What to expect
Introducing a new service - light based hair removal
I am now offering a new service for hair removal. It is called IPL - Intense Pulsed Light. It removes hair as well as my electrolysis machine in less time and for less money. Generally, it only takes between 6 - 10 treatments to clear an area. This method of hair removal is especially good for larger areas of the body like your bikini line, underarms or back.
What to expect
Because treated follicles have been heated, the area may feel slightly sensitive for an hour to a day, depending on your skin sensitivity level. Any persistent redness may be treated with an ice pack or any antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin or Bacitracin.
For optimal results multiple treatments, (5-10 or more) are necessary. The treatment schedule will vary between 2 to 8 weeks between visits, depending on body area and the method used to remove the hair prior to light treatments. Results will be more noticeable after the second treatment.
You will notice hair surfacing for 2-4 weeks after treatment. Although this may appear to be growing, most of it is not. This process is called "shedding" and will take time to complete.
You can remove the shedding hairs by using a mild exfloliant and a soft loofah or washcloth. This will gently lift the dead hairs out of the follicle, giving you a cleaner look between visits.
Care of the Treated Area
To relieve any swelling or warm sensations after treatment, apply an ice pack or cool compress for an hour or more.
Any persistent redness may be treated with an ice pack or an antiobotic ointment such as Neosporin or Bacitracin.
